This is a book about a boy named Gokliya. He is a small Apache boy that is living in-between the former U.S. and Mexico. Gokliya was one of the best athletes in his tribe. Glokliya loved the pleaser of telling the stories that you are entitled to if you catch an animal or you steel some horses from the Mexicans or other tribes. As Gokliya grows up he is not very liked by the other boys in the tribe because he was arrogant and selfish. When Gokliya would have the chance to tell a story he would exaggerate the actual story by a lot. When Gokliya was old enough to practice on the war path he showed his keen-ness and physical ability by beating all of the older boys in the training exercises. Thats when Gokliyas name was changed to Geronimo. After Geronimo finished the training to become a real warrior in battle he was sent to raid Mexican villages. Geronimo was able to run 80 miles and not even stop to take a drink or eat. This was what impressed many of the tribal council.
